Completed in 2014, the Priefert Pavilion’s two new climate-controlled arena venues add more than 100,000 square feet to existing South Point Arena and Equestrian Center, which currently features more than 1,200 climate-controlled stalls, an indoor practice arena and the 4,600-seat main show arena. Priefert celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014 and has served as a leading developer and manufacturer of rodeo equipment for the finest events in the country, including those held at South Point Arena and Equestrian Center, during their successful history.
“South Point takes great pride in housing the premier destination to the equestrian world with our South Point Arena and Equestrian Center,” said Ryan Growney, general manager of South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa. “The partnership between the Gaughan and Priefert families, two of the most prominent families in the industry, will drive rodeo events to another level. The addition of the Priefert Pavilion creates the opportunity for our current events to expand their capabilities while allowing South Point the opportunity to attract larger events to Las Vegas and expand our positive economic impact.”
With more than 30 weeks of equestrian events scheduled each year, the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center is home to some of the world’s largest and most unique equestrian events. The property caters to many niches within the industry from high-action competitions to breeders shows. In addition, South Point has played an instrumental role in some of Las Vegas’ largest Western lifestyle events including the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) World Finals and the World Series of Team Roping (WSTR).
"Everyone knows South Point is 'where cowboys come to play,' so we are very excited for the opportunity to partner with Michael Gaughan and his amazing team,” said Jeff Rash, vice president, sales and marketing of Priefert Manufacturing. “We can't think of a better place to have the Priefert name represented in Vegas and strongly believe this partnership will allow both brands and the city to prosper."
South Point broke ground on construction of the new facility in spring 2013 as part of a joint project to expand the Arena and Equestrian Center and build a new bowling tournament facility.
